Boys & Girls Clubs of South Texas join forces to host World Wide Day of Play
In a collobrative effort the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kingsville, NAS Corpus Christi, Robstown, NS Ingleside, Laguna Madre, NAS Kingsville, Alice and Edinburg RGV will jointly host Worldwide Day of Play on Sept. 26, 2009.
Each unit listed above will join forces to conduct a funfilled day of fun with various activities scheduled including live music, clowns, magic acts, carnival games, face painting, health fair, with free cotton candy, popcorn, pickles and other snack items for everyone.
There will also be plenty of give-a-ways, freebies and prizes.
The event will take place at the Boys & Girls Club of Kingsville located at 1238 E. Kennedy in Kingsville.
Families from all surrounding communities are encouraged to join in on the “Let’s Just Play” activities from 11 a m. to 3 p m.
Youth can also receive one food combo (hotdog, chips, and drink) in exchange for one canned good or a school uniform.
The Boys & Girls Clubs are partners in the Let’s Just Play Go Healthy Challenge, a joint partnership between Nickelodeon and The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, an initiative of the William J. Clinton Foundation and the America Heart Association, that encourage kids to commit to take specific steps to make their lives healthier.
The Let’s Just Play (Let’s Just Play) Go Healthy Challenge, which debuted on April 30, 2006, on Nickelodeon.
This regional Boys & Girls Club collaborative effort with Worldwide Day of Play event will take place with over 600 other Boys & Girls Clubs of America Days of Play throughout the country.

More than 250,000 kids in more than six countries and in every U.S. state are expected to participate in Nickelodeon’s sixth annual WWDP, and more than 1,000 local events are scheduled worldwide.
Nickelodeon will again partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City on its flagship WWDP New York event -- BBBS of NYC RBC Race for the Kids -- which this year will feature special appearances by Honorary Chairman of The N, Nick Cannon; platinum recording artist, Sean Kingston; Yo Gabba Gabba!’ s DJ Lance Rock; Melinda Shankar and Sam Earle from The N’s Degrassi: The Next Generation and Nickelodeon stars Lil’ JJ; J. Boogie and NFL great Tiki Barber, who will be leading kids in football drills as part of the NFL PLAY 60 campaign, aimed at getting kids active for 60 minutes a day.
The 600 local Boys & Girls Clubs of America chapters in all 50 states and several international territories will hold play events on and leading up to Sept. 26.
