Lorenzo Rios Jr.
Former Kingsville resident, Lorenzo Rios, Jr., 56, of Sanger, died Sept. 7, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, after a short illness.
He was born March 31, 1953, in Kingsville, to Lorenzo Rios Sr. and Herlinda Escobedo.
Rios served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam War.
He was a member of Trinity Chapel in Sanger.
Rios when visiting Kingsville would attend Lirio De Los Valles church and helped with the renovation of the church.
He was baptized in water in October 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Janie Rios of Sanger; son, Lorenzo Rios III of Sanger and stepdaughter, Linda Gomez of Sanger; stepson, Michael Vasquez of Sanger; sisters, Lydia (Alex) Alvarez, Ludivina Basaldua, Rosalinda (Jose) Garcia, Martha Perez, Maria (Edwardo) Aguilar, Paulita Rios, all of Kingsville; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Sept. 10 at Trinity Chapel in Sanger with Rev. Dawson and Rev. Raul Mendez officiating.
Burial followed at Sanger Cemetery.
