Spencer, a Civil Air Patrol Cadet at Memorial Middle School, was selected to attend and graduated from the Texas Wing Non- Commissioned Officer Academy the weekend of Oct. 2-4, 2009 where he was given intermediate training in leadership, effective communications skills and extensive instruction in drill and ceremonies and customs and courtesies.

“We are extremely proud of Cadet Spencer,” said Major Joe Ely Carrales, commander of the Corpus Christi Comp Squadron and its Brahma Cadet Flight at Memorial.

“The experience will instill leadership in Cadet Spencer as well as allow him to be an effective Cadet leader,” Carrales said.

Cadet Spencer was selected to be the first cadet from the Coastal Bend to attend the Cadet Training and Education Program’s NCO academy, representing Kingsville, Orange Grove, Ingleside and Corpus Christi, Texas to the Texas Wing.

CAP Officers from Brownsville and McAllen “picked up” an eager Cadet Spencer on Friday, Oct. 2 2009, at Memorial Middle School as Cadets from the Brahma Cadet Flight gathered in formation to see him off.

The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force operating three missions; Emergency Services, Aerospace Education and a Cadet Program.

The Brahma Cadet Flight of the Corpus Christi Comp Squadron has existed at Memorial Middle School since May 2006 and meets most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Memorial Campus.
