Matilde Villanueva Ortega Matilde Villanueva, 74, of Bishop, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 in Corpus Christi.

Villanueva was born on March 14, 1935 in Bishop. She was a life long member of St. James Catholic Church and a former teacher’s aide.

Survivors include five sons, Baldomero (Noelia) Ortiz Jr. of Kingsville, Edwardo (Dolly) Ortiz of Pasadena, Armando (Cindy) Ortiz of Pasadena, Ruben Ortiz of Bishop, and David (Mary) Ortiz of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Janie (Joe) Adame of Bishop; one brother, Jesus Villanueva of Bishop; three sisters, Guadalupe Villanueva of Bishop, Janie Garay of Clute, and Teresa Jimenez of Bishop; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Oct. 18.

A religious service was held Oct. 18 at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held Oct.r 19 at St. James Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. James Cemetery
