Rojas sentenced for burglaries committed

Bishop resident Joshua Thomas Rojas, 19, was sentenced to 7 years deferred probation and assessed a fine of $1000 for one of the burglaries he committed in Bishop.

“This sentence was a result of Rojas burglarizing the property two houses away from his, where he fled from me while I was sitting near the carport of the victim and saw him stealing beer from a refrigerator.,” Bishop Chief of Police Larry L. Lawrence said.

Rojas was also ordered to pay $250 court cost, $1115 in restitution, $60 a month probation fee’s and was ordered to stay 200 feet away from the victims residence.

According to the District Clerk records, Rojas also plead guilty to burglarizing the Bishop Elementary School at the beginning of 2009.

“A computer and computer accessories were stolen from a classroom and after a lengthy investigation, the computer was recovered and enough evidence was obtained for an arrest warrant for Rojas and his juvenile brother,” Lawrence said.

Rojas was given a punishment of 2 years in a State jail facility which was probated for three years, a fine of $250, $20 a month in probation fee’s and was ordered to stay 200 feet from the Bishop school.

Rojas is still facing three other charges against him which include, evading detention or arrest, terroristic threat and possession of marijuana.
