‘Mama Drama’ offers five different sides of motherhood

Poverty. Infertility. Giving up a child for adoption. Overbearing parent. Ailing parent.
Five friends face five years with these motherhood issues in the seriocomic play Mama Drama, the next production of the 2009-2010 theatre season at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Mama Drama runs in room 123, the Lab Theatre, of the Drama Arts Building, at:
- 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11-12 and 18; and
- 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 19 Admission is $5.
This work of laughter and tears was written by Leslie Ayvazian, Christine Farrell, Donna Daley, Rita Nachtmann and Ann Sachs. It also has music by Margaret Roche, Suzzy Roche and Terre Roche.
Dr. Patrick Faherty, associate professor of theatre, directs this production.
The cast of Mama Drama is as follows:
Amanda Soto, a freshman theatre major from Humble, plays Leah.
Michelle Flores, a sophomore theatre major from Alice, plays Danny
Lindsay Pierce, a sophomore communication/ business student from Bishop, plays Megan
Betsy Wallek, a senior speech/theatre student from Ben Bolt, plays Anna
Catherine Desiderio, a freshman theatre education and communication student from Kingsville, plays Liz.
The rest of the cast are Christian Acevedo, a freshman theatre arts major from San Benito; Arlene Lara, a freshman theatre arts major from Hidalgo; and Bianca Martinez, a freshman education major from San Antonio.
