FLAIR Department to conduct poetry and short story contest

The FLAIR Department of the Woman’s Club of Kingsville is currently conducting their annual GFWC Short Story and Poetry Contest which is open to all school children in Kleberg County in grades 1 through 12.

The contest is divided into 4 categories: Category 1, grades 1-3; Category 2, grades 4-6; Category 3, grades 7-9; Category 4, grades 10-12.

Each school is responsible for selecting their first, second, and third place winners which will then be judged against winners from other county schools.

The Kleberg County winners will advance to the TFWC South Texas District Poetry and Short Story Contest where they will be judged against entries from 12 other counties.

These winners will be announced at the district meeting in Kingsville in March.

The district winning entries will advance to the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs competition and will be judged against entries from across Texas.

These winners will be announced at the state convention in Corpus Christi in April.

State winners then advance to the General Federation of Women’s clubs national competition and will compete with entries from around the globe.

These winners will be announced in June, 2010.
