Traffic accident fatal here

The Kingsville Police Department won’t release the name of the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal traffic accident Wednesday night.

Kingsville police and EMS personnel responded to a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision in the 1100 block of Franklin Adams (FM 1356), just south of West Hoffman.

Juan Enrique Bazan, 79, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had been struck by the vehicle while walking across Franklin Adams from the Maple Circle housing area to his residence on West Hoffman.

The driver of the Ford pickup, a 48-year old Kingsville man, was not injured.

The driver of the vehicle did provide a blood specimen, according to police, though it is not believed that the driver was at fault for this collision.

Family members of Bazan said he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and often wandered from his home, according to police.

For many years Bazan owned and operated Henry’s Glass Shop and was formally employed with the Kingsville Independent School District.
