People who attended the 1950s Reunion of Friends and Classmates are still talking about meeting former childhood and high school friends they had not seen in 50 and 60 years.

Guests who attended the event praised the experience as one of the most memorable reunions, not only, because of the hospitality, but being able to share hugs, addresses, and promises to keep in contact with each other.

Over 400 people attended the reunion held at the home of Miro and Mary Lou Rodriguez at Baffin Bay in Riviera, Texas. People traveled from California, Maryland, Virginia, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Washington D.C., Mexico and numerous cities in Texas, to experience a nostalgic reunion that reflected memories of their youth and school days. Many guests brought their old yearbooks, photos and mementos of school days. The reunion, beginning at 2 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m., included dinner, music and dancing.

The invitation read: Miro Rodriguez, Gil Bazan and Willie Garza invite you to a Reunion of Friends and Classmates before and after the 50’s. You are invited to join (maybe for the last time) your friends and classmates from childhood. And for those guests who attended the 19503 reunion Oct. 17, it might just be the last time.

The Kingsville Record and Bishop News published a story with photos that appeared in the Oct. 21, 2009 edition.

Because there has been so much interest generated in this reunion, the newspaper decided to include another story and more photos in this edition.
