Bishop Community
The Bishop Community honored Rev. Gilbert Franke with several events recently, marking his retirement as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church after 16 years. The Bishop Chamber of Commerce was on hand to present Franke with a certificate of appreciation for his 15 years of service to the chamber. Left to right, Betty Paschal, Rev. Franke, Beth Franke, and chamber directors Nathan Lee, Betty Schroeder, and Rev Clif Abshier showed their appreciation as he received this certificate. 
Preceding the TX Scholars breakfast, a program was held in the auditorium, with sponsors of the breakfast presenting a brief program. Shown l to r, Asst. BHS Principal Christy Brothers, BHS Counselor Nelda Vilches, Counselor’s Secretary Mary Alice Lopez, BBVAS Bank representative Cindy Johnson, and chamber director Nathan Lee. BBVA Compass and Celanese sponsor the breakfast. 
The chamber supports the students at BHS who participate in the Texas Scholars Program with a breakfast each year in Badger Den. Shown enjoying the taquitos and juice are, l to r, Klassie Okode, Michael McBride, Joseph Morales, Ian Zavadie, Christina Wilborn, and Petra Ibarra Nagel.
