POLICE GUARD $2,200 WORTH OF TOYS — Pictured from left to right are Senior Patrolman Rick Salinas, Ginger Gines, Lt. Julian Cavazos in the trailer, Chief Rick Torres, Lisa Bockholt, and Officer Jorge Flores.
Over $2,200 worth of toys purchased at the Toys R Us retail toy store chain in Corpus Christi were under the watchful eye of Kingsville Police Chief Rick Torres and patrolmen, as they were unloaded at the Toys for Tots Secret Santa Warehouse this past week.
The donation to the local campaign is the result of a cooperative effort between the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and Toys R Us, a national Toys for Tots Corporate Sponsor.
Toys for Tots volunteer Ginger Gines accompanied Campaign Coordinator Lisa Bockholt on the half-day shopping spree.
The toys will be added to those collected within the community, as well as those provided to the local campaign by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a non-profit organization which oversees the program on a national level.
The toys will be sorted and distributed to families who have filled out an application.
Applications are available at the Texas Department of Health & Human Services Offices, 1413 E. Corral Street. Deadline to apply is Dec. 15.
Toy and monetary donations will continue to be accepted at Stop-n-Lube, 921 E. King Street, which serves as Campaign Headquarters through Dec. 12.
Toys should be new, unwrapped, and a minimum of $5 value.
Donations can also be made online via the local website at http://kingsvilletx. toysfortots.org.
Businesses or groups wishing to make a large toy or check presentation should contact Lisa Bockholt, Coordinator, at 595-0909 in advance.
