Toys for Tots application deadline nears

Kleberg-Kenedy County residents seeking assistance from Toys for Tots have until Dec. 15 to apply.

Applications are available at the Texas Department of Health & Human Services, 1413 E. Corral Street. Applications should be completed and returned to this same office on or before the deadline date, and must include a working telephone number.

Only one application per family will be accepted. Distribution begins the week of Dec. 14.

Families will be contacted by telephone once their application has been processed.

In order to insure the community is served fairly and equitably, Toys for Tots applications are cross-checked amongst other social service organizations.

If someone has applied to Toys for Tots, and places their child’s name on any other organizations’ list to receive toys, their Toys for Tots application will be rejected.

Families may only receive toys from one local organization.

“Toys for Tots will have an ample supply of toys for local distribution. It is not necessary for someone to place their name on more than one list to receive toys,” explained Lisa Bockholt, Campaign Coordinator.

“The main thing is to be sure and fill out the official Toys for Tots Application and turn it in to the Texas Dept. of Health & Human Services offices on Corral Street,” Bockholt said.

New, unwrapped toys and monetary donations to the local campaign will be accepted at Stop-n- Lube, 921 E. King Street, which serves as Campaign Headquarters, through Dec. 12.

All donations remain in the community to help local less fortunate families.

Groups or businesses wishing to make a large toy or check presentation, or conduct an event to benefit Toys for Tots should contact Lisa Bockholt at 595- 0909.
