Ex-veterans service officer bashed
When I read the guest commentary of our former county veterans service officer, Mr. Tomas Sanchez, in the Dec. 6 Kingsville Record and Bishop News, I could not help but laugh. The comments Mr. Sanchez made reminded me of the ballad of the great race horse that won many races and eventually went blind and then had to be euthanized.
For several years, many of us have tried to get a county veterans service officer on an eight hour day, 40 hours per week basis to better serve our community.
I thank the county judge and the four county commissioners for granting us the 40 hour a week county veterans service officer.
The former veterans officer loudly and arrogantly argued that there was no need for the county to have a veterans service officer eight hours a day. In his commentary, he is telling the public the opposite of what he stated at the commissioners court meeting.
And on the subject of rotten apples, it is a known, fact, that if you leave an apple in the barrel too long, it will eventually rot.
