Clara Underbrink Schonefeld Clara Underbrink Schonefeld, 91, resided in Vattmann, Texas for 85 years and died in Raymondville, Texas on Friday, December 18, 2009. She was born on February 3, 1918 in Riviera to Orlando and Grace Underbrink.

She was married for 54 years to Ed Schonefeld, who preceded her in death in 1989. Also preceding her in death was her son, C. E. “Butch” Schonefeld, infant son, Donald Edward, grandson, Richie Scanlan, and two great-grandsons, H. L. Brown and Charles Bush.

To cherish and celebrate her life are her five children and their families: Elaine (Irby) Norrell, their children, Donnie, Bobby, Patty, Brenda and Karen, 12 grandchidren, and three greatgrandchildren; Buddy (Helen) Schonefeld and his children, Sherri, Steven, Alyse and Calvin, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; Orville (Diane) Schonefeld, and his children, Rhonda, Joey, Rodney and Jackie, 13 grandchildren; Diane Scanlan and her daughters, Lisa and Stephanie, and two grandchildren; Linda, surviving wife of Butch, and their children, Alana, Shanna and David, and three grandsons.

Clara is also survived by her sisters, Idella Strubhart, Alma Lampe, Laura Stubhart, Edna Key and Margie Brown; her brother, Marion (Loraine) Underbrink and their extended families of nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Cornelius Underbrink and Harold Underbrink, and sisters, Irene Cumberland and Henrietta Underbrink, preceded her in death.

Clara was kind, generous and spent her life loving and taking care of her family. She was devoted to her faith, attending daily Mass and Communion at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Vattmann, Texas. Her greatest joy was working at the church, decorating and arranging flowers for all occasions.

Visitation took place on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church with a Rosary recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church with Fr. James Harris as celebrant. Burial followed in Vattmann at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were her grandchildren, Donald and Robert Norrell, Joey and Rodney Schonefeld, Steven and Calvin Schonefeld.

Services were entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
