Charles ‘Bob’ Lindsey
Charles Robert “Bob” Lindsey died Dec. 23, 2009 in Corpus Christi.
He was born Jan. 21, 1927 in Mabank to Bertha Sutton Lindsey and Elim G. Lindsey.
In 1937, Lindsey moved to Ingleside where he attended public schools, graduating from Ingleside High in 1944. He played four years in the Texas State High School Basketball Championships. Lindsey attended the University of Texas, Austin, but his college studies were interrupted when he joined the Navy, serving as a medical corpsman.
He returned to college and graduated from Sam Houston State University. Lindsey began his teaching career in Bishop in 1950 and taught chemistry until his retirement. He also coached the Bishop High School Basketball team for a number of years.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Cliett Lowman of Bishop and Robin Lowman Garner of Boerne; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, under the direction of Turcotte- Piper Mortuary, were held Dec. 27, 2009 at Restland Cemetery in Bishop with the Rev. Ron Earley officiating. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
