Gus Guerrero seeks Precinct 2 JP post

Gus Guerrero Gus Guerrero Gus Guerrero has announced his candidacy for Kleberg County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 in the March 2010 primary.

Guerrero is a Kingsville native who is currently employed with Christus Spohn. He is a 34-year resident who still lives in Precinct 2.

“I understand the heart and pulse of precinct 2. I’ve watched this precinct evolve into what it is today. I know its strengths and weaknesses,” Guerrero said.

Guerrero is currently serving as vice president of the Kingsville Cal Ripken- Babe Ruth League.

“I have been blessed with 11-year-old triplets and investing time into the children of the community has always been a priority of mine,” Guerrero said.

“The return on this kind of investment is seen in the later teen-age years of these children. Teenage truancy is obviously a problem in our school system, but positive reinforcement early in the child’s development is the key to relieving this problem,” he said.

“For those who invariably end up in Truancy Court, my judgment will be fair and impartial. The goal is to encourage a behavioral change that will impact educational success and moral attitude.”

Guerrero went on to say, “What a truant must understand is that in life there are consequences to every decision one makes and if you’re in my court for truancy, you’ve probably made a bad decision, which will result in a consequence. Understandably, there are extenuating circumstances and these will be considered with regard to judgment.”

Guerrero said he has always maintained a strong work ethic. In addition to his employment at Christus Spohn and management of A & J Lawn Care & Landscaping business, he is also a distributor for D & D Statuary.

Guerrero has also served as superintendent of chamberlain Cemetery. Guerrero said he vows to pursue the same level of commitment to the position of JP if elected.

“I want the voters to know that I’m not just offering lip service with regard to the level of commitment I promise to bring to the Precinct 2 JP position. Hard work, dedication, and integrity have always been a way of life for me. As Precinct 2 JP, these attributes would continue to define my duties,” the candidate said.

“I am a people person,” Guerrero said.

“I love meeting and talking to people. I would commit to listening to concerns and questions of the citizens of Precinct 2. I would be impartial and treat those entering the court with respect and dignity. Historically, my jobs have required me to keep long, odd hours,” he said.

“As such, my availability 24/7 for the duties of JP would be something I am already accustomed to. I will always be a phone call away and maintain an open door policy,” Guerrero said.

“Kingsville is my home,” Guerrero said proudly.

“It would bring me great pleasure to serve the community, more specifically, the citizens of Precinct 2 as Justice of the Peace.”
