Weekend sports notes

Pride Basketball

Santa Gertrudis Kingsville Academy High School’s varsity boys basketball team is 10-10 overall, thus far this season, after losing to Taft 59- 74 this past Tuesday.

Scoring for Academy were Raul Garcia (25 points), Lalo Gonzalez (13), Chris Ainsworth (7), Randy Cavazos (5), Eddie Resendez (5) and Emilio Martinez (4).

Academy’s varsity and junior varsity boys basketball teams host Agua Dulce at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams visit Santa Maria in their district opener at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The Lady Pride varsity and junior varsity basketball teams host La Villa at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The varsity girls team visits Santa Maria at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Powerlifting

Bishop and H.M. King High School’s powerlifting teams compete at a meet to be held in Tuloso-Midway this Saturday.

Tennis

H.M. King High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman tennis teams compete in a dual meet at Falfurrias at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Badgers Basketball

Bishop High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman boys basketball teams host Banquete at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. All three teams visit Santa Rosa at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Lady Badgers varsity and junior varsity basketball teams visit Incarnate Word Academy at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams host Santa Rosa at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Brahmas Basketball

H.M. King High School’s varsity and junior varsity boys basketball teams host Alice on Tuesday and then host Laredo Nixon on Friday.

The Lady Brahmas varsity and junior varsity basketball teams host Alice at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams visit Laredo Nixon at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Memorial Middle School’s 7A, 7B, 8A and 8B boys basketball teams host Flour Bluff at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday. Memorial’s 7A, 7B, 8A and 8B girls basketball teams visit Flour Bluff at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Brahma soccer

H.M. King High School’s varsity boys soccer team visits Corpus Christi Moody at 6 p.m. on Monday. The Brahmas compete at a tournament hosted by Corpus Christi Independent School District this Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Brahmas varsity and junior varsity soccer teams host Roma at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday. The varsity girls soccer team competes at a tournament hosted by Corpus Christi Independent School District this Friday and Saturday.

Seahawks Basketball

Riviera-Kaufer High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman boys basketball teams visit Premont at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. All three teams host San Diego at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The Lady Seahawks varsity and junior varsity girls basketball teams host Premont at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The varsity, junior varsity and freshman girls basketball teams visit San Diego at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

De La Paz Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams visit Hebbronville at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
