Weekend Sports Notes

PRIDE BASKETBALL

Santa Gertrudis Kinsgville Academy High School’s varsity boys basketball team moved their record up to 11-10 overall after clobbering Agua Dulce 52-27 this past Tuesday. Academy scored 12 points in the first quarter, 10 in the second, 19 in the third and 13 in the final period; while holding Agua Dulce to 9, 11, 2 and 5.

Coach Matthew Gonzalez said his team - which has trouble on the road - did not shoot well in the first half. Gonzalez said the Pride performed much better in the second half completing four three-point shots while holding Agua Dulce to a combined seven points.

Chris Ainsworth led Academy in scoring with 13 points. Also hitting buckets were Lalo Gonzalez (9 points), Caleb Canales (8), Connor DeLaney (7), Randy Cavazos (6), Issac Alvarado (4), Aaron Ramon (3), Emilio Martinez (2) and Alex Segura (2).

Academy’s varsity team hosts Benavides at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The junior varsity boys team visits Presbyterian Pan American at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams visit Bruni at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Santa Gertrudis Kingsville Academy’s varsity and junior varsity girls basketball teams host Benavides at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lady Pride varsity team visits Bruni at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

BADGER BASKETBALL

Bishop High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman boys basketball teams host Donna Idea Academy at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. All three teams load the buses and visit Riviera- Kaufer at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Lady Badger varsity basketball team visits Donna Idea Academy at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop’s varsity and junior varsity girls basketball teams host Riviera-Kaufer at 6 p.m. on Friday.

SEAHAWK BASKETBALL

Riviera-Kaufer High School’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman boys basketball teams visit Hebbronville at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. All three teams host Bishop at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The Lady Seahawk varsity and junior varsity basketball teams host Hebbronville at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kaufer’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman girls basketball teams visit Bishop at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

De la Paz Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams host San Diego at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

BRAHMA BASKETBALL

H.M. King High School’s varsity and junior varsity boys basketball teams host Laredo LBJ at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams visit Laredo Cigarroa at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Lady Brahma varsity and junior varsity basketball teams visit Laredo LBJ at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams host Laredo Cigarroa at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday.

Memorial Middle School’s 7A, 7B, 8A and 8B girls basketball teams host Rockport-Fulton at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial’s 7A, 7B, 8A and 8B boys basketball teams visit Rocport-Fulton at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

SOCCER

H.M. King High School’s varsity and junior varsity girls soccer teams visit Beeville at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lady Brahma junior varsity squad competes at a tournament hosted by Corpus Christi Independent School District Friday and Saturday. The Lady Brahmas varsity team hosts Corpus Chrisit Ray at 6 p.m. on Friday.

H.M. King High School’s varsity and junior varsity boys soccer teams host Tuloso-Midway at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Brahma junior varsity team competes at a tournament hosted by Corpus Christi Independent School District on Friday and Saturday.

POWERLIFTING

H.M. King High School’s powerlifting team competes at a meet hosted at George West this Saturday.

TENNIS H.M. King High School’s varsity tennis team competes at a tournament hosted in Tuloso-Midway this Friday and Saturday.
