Voter registration deadline Feb. 1
For those residents who are not registered to vote, the deadline to register in time to vote in the primary elections is Monday. Feb. 1.
Voter registration cards can be picked up at the Tax Assessor-Collector’s office located at the Kleberg County Courthouse.
Residents who wish to register to vote must provide a Texas driver’s license or personal identification number.
If the applicant does not have a driver’s license or personal identification number, then the ending four digits of a social security number can be used.
If a person moves to another county, then he or she must re-register in the county of new residence.
Other qualifications for voter registration are the following:
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must be at least 17 years and 10 months old to register, and you must be 18 years of age by Election Day.
• Must not be finally convicted of a felony, or if you are a felon, you must have completed all of your punishment, including any term of incarceration, parole supervision, period of probation, or you must have received a pardon.
• You must not have been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
