After losing two games the previous week, the Badgers bounced back with two district wins last week against Donna IDEA and Riviera.
The Badgers traveled to face the Riviera Seahawks, bringing home a 63- 38 win over the district rivals on Friday, Jan. 22.
Bishop had four players scoring in double digits, with A.J. Gaona leading the Badgers with 16 points, 18 rebounds, two steals, two assists, and one block.
Also pitching in to the win were Dave Gonzalez with 15 points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist; Jacob Beltran with 13 points, six rebounds and four steals; Grant Michalk with 11 points, 17 rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and two assists; Daniel Hinojosa with four points and one steal; Robert Gaona with two points, four assists and three rebounds; Bandon Haddy with two points and one rebound and Johnathan Villarreal with three steals, one rebound and one assist.
All other high school Badger basketball squads came out with victories over the Seahawks.
Bishop hosted Donna IDEA and earned a 45-26 victory on Jan. 19.
Leading the Badgers was A.J. Gaona with 17 points, five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.
Also contributing to the Bishop victory was Dave Gonzalez with six points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds; Johnathan Villarreal with seven points, two steals and one rebound; Daniel Hinojosa with five points and two rebounds; Robert Gaona with four points, four rebounds and one assist; Grant Michalk with two points, six rebounds and one block; Jacob Beltran with two points, one assist, and one block; Eric Barrientes with two points and one assist; and Brandon Haddy with two rebounds.
After the two wins, the Badgers varsity squad holds a 5-1 district record, while staying above .500 with a 12-10 overall record.
