Kingsville chamber banquet set; nominations sought

The annual Kingsville Chamber of Commerce banquet will be held March 4 at the Student Union Building ballroom on the campus of Texas A&M University- Kingsville.

The banquet will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by a program at 7 p.m., then dinner and a guest speaker.

Theme of this year’s event is “A New Decade, A New Beginning.”

Nominations are still being sought for the Otis West Lifetime Service Award and the Citizen of the Year.

The Guidelines for the Otis West award are as Follows:

•The award shall be presented to a Kleberg County citizen who, in prior years, has rendered the greatest and most unselfish service to his or her community through vocational and/or non-vocational community work.

•The recipient shall be a resident of Kleberg County but need not be a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

•The person receiving the award may be an elected official, either paid or unpaid, school personnel, member of an appointed board, etc.

•This honor will be awarded only once to a person

•Nominiations should include pertinent, detailed information on activities, endeavors and achievements that the candidate has been involved with throughout his or her lifetime.

•Also include reasons for nominatiing someone for the Otis West award.

Citizen of the Year Guidelines are as follows:

•The recipient must be a citizen of Kleberg County, but need not be a member of the Chamber of Commerce

•He or she may not have been a prior recipient of the award.

•A paid civic or welfare worker or political official is not eligible by virtue of his or her professional position, but may be considered based on his or her community involvement and activities.

•Any work done for personal financial gain will not be considered for this award.
