Altar Servers of the Year
The Rev. Paul Puthenangady, pastor of Our Lady of God Counsel Church, along
with altar servers sponsors Valentine and Rosario Gonzalez III, have announced that
Miranda Leigh Hernandez, right, and Zachary Rodriguez were chosen as Our Lady
of Good Counsel’s 2010 Altar Servers of the Year. Bishop Carmody of the Diocese
of Corpus Christi presented them with a plaque at a ceremony held at the Corpus
Christi Cathedral. Miranda is the daughter of Thelma and Tomas Hernandez.
Zachary is the son of Ted and Flor Rodriguez. The primary role of an altar server is to
assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This is done by specific
