Timeout!
Ya’ll do yourselves a favor. Do not - under any circumstances - take my advice when it comes to picking winners in professional football.
I should have known better than to follow my gut instincts when I texted everyone I knew swearing the Indianapolis Colts would win Super Bowl 44 by at least 10 points.
This of course coming from the same guy who fully believed the New England Patriots would go 19-0 after vanquishing the New York Giants in the big game a few years ago; and we all know how that one ended.
Then again, my first season as a fantasy football honcho didn’t go so well either.
Along with a buddy of mine - who will remain anonymous for now - we drafted plenty of good players before the beginning of the season and took turns selecting each week’s lineup.
For some reason, our fantasy team lost more when I picked the roster and won more games when my pal made the picks.
Well, we ended up winning only three games and lost many more during the regular season; but did manage to advance into the postseason.
Our league had two playoff divisions. The first one was for the top 50 percent of the teams in the league who would battle it out for the ‘Super Bowl’.
Everyone below the ‘wins and losses’ line, including my team, had to settle for fighting it out for the ‘Toilet Bowl’.
We made it to the semifinal game but were then shown the door.
Our fantasy league administrator sent us the final e-mail informing us how much money we had won, depending on our season’s performance.
We ended up owing $42.27. I’d especially like to thank the Dallas Cowboys defense who consistently had a bad outing whenever I picked them for my weekly lineup.
Needless to say I’ll never be a general manager in the National Football League.
So with my reversefortune telling talents, let me just say that the COWBOYS WILL NOT MAKE IT TO THE SUPER BOWL next year.
My backwardspsychic skills would have gotten me fired from several carnival jobs had I decided on that as a career.
