CIVICS LESSON — Kleberg County Clerk Leo Alarcon discusses the duties of his office and the election process to Coastal Bend College students last week as he prepared for early voting in the March primary election. Early voting began Tuesday. The students were enrolled in a state government class taught by Twila Johnson. Alarcon gave the students sample ballots. Some of the students were King High students enrolled in dual credit courses. Lydia Herrera, one of the students said she learned about the actual voting process, the precincts and record keeping of documents. Melissa De La Garza, Kleberg County Tax Assessor Collector also discussed the voter registration process. Pictured with Alarcon is Chief Deputy Jose Betancourt.
