Charles Davis “Dave” Wiley Charles Davis “Dave” Wiley Charles Davis “Dave” Wiley of Forestburg, TX was born March 8, 1954 in Denton, TX and he entered the gates to Heaven to meet the Lord on February 12, 2010. He graduated from Denton High School in 1972 and attended Cook County Jr. College.

He married the love of his life, Sherri Turek 20 years ago, September 2, 1989. Partners in life, they raised horses, mules, and dogs, farmed and ranched, some rodeo life, traveled selling and trading cowboy goods. They shared a strong love for each other, their families, friends and their church.

Dave was one of those instrumental in organizing the Montague County Cowboy Church in 2006. He has been an elder in the Cowboy Church since its beginning, and played and sang in their church services. He was known in South Texas as Cowboy Dave.

He was a great Santa Claus for many children in different places through out the area. In 2009, he and Sherri were Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and took residents at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village for a Christmas ride in their decorated One Horse Open Sleigh. He loved old wagons and antiques.

Dave had a creative talent that everyone admired. He touched so many lives in his short 55 years with his gentleness, determination, and fun loving spirit. He always thought of others before himself, and was loved by all whose lives he touched.

He started working for Meador Nursery when he was in high school, and enjoyed the family and work so much that he stayed there many years. He worked at Peterbilt Motor Corp for 27 years, in many different capacities. His last position was a quality assurance technician.

Dave will be forever remembered by his devoted wife, Sherri, parents, Art and Judy Wiley of Denton; brother, Jim Wiley and wife Sylvia of Justin; sister, Leigh Anne Wiley Prukop of Kingsville; nephew and nieces, Trevor and Lauren Prukop, of Kingsville, Brandi and husband Shane Horton and great niece Laney of White Settlement. He is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Wiley and niece, Caitlynn.

His special families, Boots and Billye Early, Joe and Donna, Shane, Shawna Early, John and Cindy, Shelly, Matt, and Jason Early, Jim and Amanda, Hillary, Hannah Early of East Texas, Dale and Norma Hughes, Gail Hughes, Mike and Diane Hughes, Cheryl and Reggi Sain of Denton.

Visitation will be Monday, February 15, 2009 from 4:30 – 8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Denton. Burial will follow at Perryman Cemetery in Montague County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Montague County Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 1536, Bowie, Texas 76230.
