Mariachi music event

Editor:

In November of 2009 I wrote your newspaper a letter describing my volunteer participation in a Mariachi concert in San Antonio. I described the wonderful talents of young Mariachi vocalists and musicians from all over the State of Texas.

I now want to share the excitement of the internationally acclaimed Mariachi Vargas bringing their performance to Corpus Christi on Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the American Bank Center Selena Auditorium.

What excites me even more about the performance is that opening for Mariachi Vargas will be the first place groups from each category that performed in San Antonio during the Mariachi group competition.

The University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg Mariachi, Cotulla High School Mariachi and Zapata Middle School Mariachi will open the show featuring Mariachi Vargas. The talents of these young men and women are simply fantastic and ex citing to watch. They keep the tradition of Mariachi mu sic alive and inspiring.

I want to remind your readers that the director of Cotulla High School Maria chi is Kingsville’s own Elio Ramirez. Local flavor added to an already exciting event.

I urge the citizens of Kingsville, Kleberg County to attend this wonderful and exciting Mariachi event. Listening to these young, tal ented Mariachi performers is heartwarming. If anyone has a family member interested in Mariachi music, this is the show to go see and enjoy. It is inspiring and filled with great traditional Mariachi music.

And of course it goes with out saying that the show is culminated by the very tal ented Mariachi Vargas.

Thank you for allowing me to share my excitement about this exciting event through your publication.

“Que viva el Mariachi.”

Sincerely,
Armida (Middy) Muñoz
