International Horn Society president is presenter at annual South Texas Regional Horn Workshop

Students from across South Texas are expected to take part in the 3rd Annual South Texas Regional Horn Workshop, Friday, Feb. 20 at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

The workshop is sponsored by A&M-Kingsville and the Texas A&M University- Kingsville Horn Society.

Jeff Snedeker, a professor of horn at Central Washington University and president of the International Horn Society, will serve as this year’s featured guest artist.

Snedeker, along with several A&M-Kingsville music students, will perform a free public recital at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb 20 at the Bellamah Music Building Recital Hall.

A multiple award-winning musician and music educator, Snedeker has a bachelor’s in music and mathematics from Heidelberg College, a Master of Music in horn performance from the University of Michigan, a Master of Arts in music history from The Ohio State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts in horn performance and historical musicology from the University of Wisconsin- Madison.

Workshop highlights include a warm-up session, a clinic on jazz horn, master classes and quartet and solo competitions.
