Army Staff Sgt. Joe E. Ramos has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

Ramos, an instructor, is assigned to D Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He has 13 years of military service.

He is the son of Jose L. Ramos of Kingsville.
