Kingsville Noon Rotary Club selects Cortez as March Student of the Month

Rotary Student of the Month FO R March SELECTED — Coryfrancis Cortez, middle, a senior at H.M. King High School was selected by the Kingsville Noon Rotary Club as the Student of the Month scholarship award winner for the month of March. King High School and ranked number 14 in her class was selected by the Kingsville Noon Rotary Club as the Student of the Month for the month of March.

Rotarian Dr. Mike Desiderio made the presentation to Cortez and awarded her a $500 scholarship to Texas A&M University-Kingsville where she plans to major in psychology.

The daughter of Diana and Amado Trevino, Jr., Coryfrancis has been involved as a mentor for the TAMUK Educational Talent Search Peer group.

She has also participated in various UIL academic events including journalism and spelling.

She has participated in other events for four years such as being a qualifier for the district and regional band.

A member of the National Honor Society, Coryfrancis has also been involved in various clubs and activities at King High including having served on the student council, the Business Professionals of America, the Health Occupation Students of America and the Latin Club.

She has volunteered in service projects and fundraisers in the community and has participated in Josh Fest and the Relay for Life walk.

At present Coryfrancis attends Coastal Bend College concurrently and has obtained a total of 15 hours of college credit.
