Elizabeth “Betty” Dowdy, 85, of Van Vleck died March 17, 2010.

She was born Oct. 16, 1924, in Bishop, to the late Oswald J. and Nora Koban Urban.

She worked as a clerk for Kleberg County for many years. She and her husband retired to Startzville, near Canyon Lake and she had been a resident of Van Vleck for the past 10 years.

Survivors include daughter, Norma (Joe) Labuda of Van Vleck; son, Donald (Sybil) Dowdy of Hurley, Miss.; six grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren.

A funeral service was held March 20 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Sweeny with the Rev. Edward Boineau officiating.

A graveside service was led by nephew the Rev. Tom Dowdy at the Cranes Mill Cemetery in Startzville.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
