Carlos G. Chapa
Carlos G. Chapa, 62, of Kingsville and a former longtime resident of Zapata, died Friday, April 2, 2010 in Corpus Christi.
He was born on July 3, 1947 in Kingsville to Jose Dolores Chapa and Theresa Garza Chapa.
Chapa, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was a self-employed sandblaster/ painter.
He is survived by his wife, Alma De Los Santos Chapa of Kingsville; three sons, Carlos Chapa Jr. and Jose R. Chapa, both of Kingsville, and Juan (Lori) Chapa of Houston; two daughters, Claudia (Rene) Trevino and Karla T. Chapa, both of Kingsville; stepdaughter, Yilsa (Jesse) Espara of San Antonio; six brothers, Jesus Chapa of Zapata, Luis (Estella) Chapa of Corpus Christi, Eddie (Mary) Silva and Albert (Veronica) Silva, both of Corpus Christi, Nestor (Rosie) Chapa and Francisco Chapa, both of Mexico; four sisters, Esperanza (Jesus) Rodriguez and Sylvia (Juan) Suarez, both of Corpus Christi, Diana (Eduardo) Sanchez of Zapata and Francisca Silva of Kingsville; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation took place April 5 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with a Rosary recited Monday night. Funeral Mass was celebrated April 6 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with the Rev. Jose Naul as celebrant. Burial followed in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Detail.
