Primary runoff election Tuesday

Voters go back to the polls Tuesday for the Democratic and Republican primary runoff elections.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Primary runoff elections are for the political parties to finalize the nomination of candidates to be on the fall general election ballot.

Demoratic Primary Runoff Elections are being held for the offices of Kleberg County District Clerk, Kleberg County Commissioner of Precinct 2, and Justice of the Peace of Precinct 2.

Candidates for District Clerk are Crystal L. Lomas and Melissa Ruiz Salinas.

Candidates for County Commissioner of Precinct 2 are Joe G. Hinojosa and incumbent Norma Nelda Alvarez.

Candidates for Justice of the Peace in Precinct 2 are incumbent Mario A. Delgado and Carmen Cortez.

The Republican Primary Runoff is being held for the offices of United States Representative, District 27, and Texas Supreme Court Justice, Place 3.

Candidates for United States Representative, District 27, are James Duerr and R. Blake Farenthold.

Candidates for Texas Supreme Court Justice, Place 3 are Rick Green and Debra Lehrmann.

As of press time Friday, 653 Democratic votes were cast and 142 Republican votes were cast.

“If you voted in a party’s primary on March 2, 2010 you cannot participate in the other party’s runoff, however, if you did not vote March 2, you can pick one of the party’s runoffs and vote,” Kleberg County Clerk Leo Alarcon.
