Zarate named National Honor Society Member of the Month for March

Sara Zarate Sara Zarate H.M. King student Sara Zarate has been named National Honor Society Member of the Month for March.

She is the daughter of Juan and Maricelda Zarate.

Extracurricular Activities: Sara is currently participating in FFA, Business Professionals of America, UIL Social Studies, UIL Current Issues and Events, 4-H, and was on the debate team at H.M. King High School. She has played four years of basketball, two of which she was on varsity, and has been on the varsity golf team for four consecutive years. She is also on the Executive Board for the National Honor Society.

Work Experience: Sara is a student worker at the KISD Administration Building, where she files and makes copies of papers and helps set up workshops for teachers. She has had this job since the first week in August.

Plans after high school: Sara plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station and then attend medical or veterinarian school. She is still undecided on which one.

List of potential colleges:

• Texas A&M University College Station - Accepted.

Interesting Facts: “I enjoy any outdoor activity, all kinds of music, and my favorit book is Candide, by Voltaire.” Sara has also received a $12,000 scholarship from the Texas A&M Honors Program.
