Poetry and short story contest winners posted
The FLAIR Department of the Woman’s Club of Kingsville recently honored the Kleberg County winners of their GFWC Poetry and Short Story Contest at an awards ceremony and reception. All winners, their families, and their school principal and teachers were invited to attend.
The contest is open to all Kleberg County school children, grades 1 through 12. This year seven schools participated in the contest.
Each school selected their own winners and these students received a ribbon. These winning entries then advance to the county level and winners are selected there. Each winner receives a certificate and a rosette for their work.
The Kleberg County winners in the Poetry Contest are:
Category 1, Grades 1-3:

The Kleberg County winners advanced to competition in the South Texas District and the winners there will advance to the TFWC state competition with the results announced at the state convention in Corpus Christi, April 14-16. Texas winners will advance to the national competition and those winners will be announced in June.
