Motorcyclist struck by car
A Kingsville motorcyclist was taken by HALO flight to a Corpus Christi hospital Thursday after being struck by car in the 1300 block of General Cavazos Boulevard.
According to Kingsville Police Department Sgt. Brad Lile, at about 6:18 p.m., 39-year-old Mark Anthony Cortez was driving his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on General Cavazos Boulevard when a 1997 Acura driven by 17-year-old Aubrey Dickey of Ricardo, also driving eastbound, started to turn left and struck Cortez.
Cortez, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was ejected from the motorcycle.
It was unknown if Dickey went ahead of Cortez or struck him from the side.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Both Cortez and Dickey were taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg and then Cortez was airlifted to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital, and as of press time Friday, Cortez remained in the intensive care unit.
Dickey was cited for driving with an invalid license, driving with no insurance, and failure to yield the right of way when turning left.
