Bishop mayor announces re-election bid

Victor Ramos Victor Ramos Bishop Mayor Victor Ramos has announced his candidacy for re-election in the upcoming May 8 city election.

Ramos has been mayor since 2008 and is seeking his second term.

While in office, Ramos said he has worked hard for the people of Bishop.

“I have saved thousands of dollars by questioning and reorganizing vendor invoice discrepancies, worked endlessly in the annexation of Compass Bank and Snappy’s in Bishop, and was instrumental in providing Public Works and the Bishop Police Department with new, much needed vehicles,” Ramos said.

“I currently have a few more projects and grants pending completion,” he noted.

Ramos has been involved in many activities in Bishop and the surrounding areas for many years.

He was named the 2000 Professional Business Person of the Year, is a former member of the Lions club, former president of the Economic Development Corporation, member of the Bishop Chamber of Commerce, co-chair for the Bishop Centennial Parade committee, and is coordinator of Emergency Management in Bishop.

Ramos is president of the St. James Catholic Church Cemetery Committee and is director of the St. James Alter Servers.

He serves as coordinator of Toys for Tots in the Bishop, Driscoll, and Petronila area, was instrumental in organizing the ambulance workforce committee, and organized the Public Works department for a long-term drainage problem in Bishop.

Ramos would like to thank all of his supporters for their continued support throughout his term in office and calls on the people of Bishop to help keep him in office.

“I want to personally thank all the citizens of Bishop who have strongly supported me these past years in my venture as Bishop mayor,” Ramos said. “If re-elected I will work diligently to continue to move Bishop in a positive direction.”

“I want the citizens of Bishop to know that family comes first to me and I love my children very much,” Ramos said. “And just like I love my children I love Bishop and the well being of its citizens is my main priority.”
