Tree planting ceremony in honor of child abuse victim
IN MEMORIAM -—
Members of Texas A&M
University-Kingsville
fraternity Omega Delta Phi
planted a tree April 14 on
the grounds of the Kleberg
County courthouse in
memory of Clayton
Durham, a 12 year-old
Ricardo resident who was
a victim of child abuse
and died in 1998. Turcotte-
Piper Mortuary donated
the memorial marker and
Brush Country CASA
donated the tree and
sponsored the event in
celebration of National
Child Abuse Awareness
and Prevention Month.
The marker read, “Given
in honor and memory of
Clayton Durham (4/1/86-
6/13/98), whose loss of life
was not in vain. We will
always remember.” (Photo
