Early voting continues

After a week of early voting for several elections around the area, two more days have been designated this week for voting to continue before the official election Saturday, May 8.

Elections are being held for the Kingsville City Commission, trustee positions with the Kingsville Independent School District Board, a bond issue to build a new H.M. King High School, a bond issue to build new schools in Riviera, creation of an emergency ambulance district with taxing authority for the Cities of Bishop and Driscoll and the surrounding area, and positions on the Bishop City Council.

For the Kingsville City Commission race, early voting will continue to take place Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p m. at City Hall, located at 200 East Kleberg Ave.

As of press time Friday, 259 votes had been cast in the Kingsville City Commission election.

Early voting for the KISD School Board trustee positions and bond election is being held Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 at the KISD Administrative Building, located at 207 North 3rd Street from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p m.

Additional polling locations for KISD early voting include: May 3 only Harvey Elementary School 8 a m. to 5 p.m. May 4 only Kleberg School 8 a m. to 5 p m.

May 4 only Perez School 8 a m. to 5 p m.

As of press time Friday, 560 votes had been cast in the KISD school board and bond election.

For the Bishop City Commission race and ambulance service proposition, early voting will continue to take place Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bishop City Hall, located at 203 East Main St.

Residents of Driscoll and Petronila can continue to vote for the ambulance service proposition Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p m. at Driscoll ISD, located at 410 W. Avenue D. or Petronila Elementary School located at 717 East Sixth St.

As of press time Friday, 218 votes had been cast in the ambulance service district election and 178 votes had been cast in the Bishop City Commission election.

The Bishop CISD school board election was called off due to no opposing candidates for the three open positions.

The incumbents Norma Jean Flores in Place 1, Gracie Barreto in Place 3, and Judy Murdoch in Place 5, will serve another term.

Early voting for the Riviera ISD bond election will continue to be held Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 at the Riviera ISD administration building, located at 203 Seahawk Drive, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p m.

As of press time Friday, 132 votes had been cast in the Riviera ISD bond election.
