No charges filed in so-called fight club incident

By Rey Sifuentes Jr.

Following an investigation, Kleberg County Sherriff Department is closing the book on the alleged fight club incident involving six Bishop High School students a few weeks ago.

The incident - which took place at the Ricardo home of BHS Principal Ray A. Garza - came to light when someone found footage of the boys fighting on You- Tube. The bird’s eye view videos recorded the kids punching, kicking and grappling with each other while others watched. The videos have been removed from You-Tube.

“We have found that there is no information or evidence in reference to Mr. Garza being involved in any way in this so-called fight club,” Lieutenant David Mendoza wrapped inside the shirt.

Officers arrested the 12-year-old and took him to the Police Department.

The pistol was found to have been stolen from a vehicle in Kingsville several days prior.

The boy was transported to a juvenile facility and was charged with unlawful carrying weapon (weapons-free zone), a state jail felony and theft of firearm, a state jail felony.

Approximately 20 minutes later, additional 9-1-1 calls were received from the same area and upon arrival, patrol officers discovered two residences that had been shot at.

The investigation revealed that two to three men went to 918 N. Third Street to confront another men.

The men began shooting into the residence and breaking windows.

The occupants fled the residence and went inside the home next door, 916 N. Third Street.

The shooter, Jesse Longoria, 17, warned the resident to force the other two out of the house or he would begin shooting.

When the resident failed to comply, Longoria fired several shots into this residence.

Although several people were inside the house, including two children, nobody was hit.

Longoria was arrested on two counts of deadly conduct (third degree felony).

He is still in the Kleberg County Jail on $10,000 bond for each count while the incident is still under investigation.
