Police nab 2 in shooting spree here

Jesse Longoria Jesse Longoria Two arrests were made in a shooting at neighborhood residences this early Wednesday morning.

About 4 a.m., Kingsville Police responded to a report of a man carrying a baseball bat and threatening people.

As patrol officers arrived in the 900 block of North Third Street, they encountered a 12-year old boy who threw a t-shirt into the grass, and upon investigation a stolen .380 pistol was found of the Criminal Investigations Division said. “None of the kids were injured and there will be no criminal charges. What happened was that a group of kids that Mr. Garza’s son invited over to their house to spend the night engaged in some horse-play, some fighting within themselves, and Mr. Garza was not aware of this.”

Contrary to numerous circulated rumors, not a single parent whose child participated in the horse play wished to pursue the case.

“I have interviewed all of the parents of every boy that were involved in this situation at that house and they all reported that none of their children were injured,” Mendoza said. “None of the parents wished to pursue any charges and that has concluded this investigation. There is no organized fight club at Mr. Garza’s house and there never was; these were just teenage boys horse-playing.”

Mendoza said the incident was blown way out of proportion thanks to other Internet videos which mimic the popular movie ‘Fight Club’.

“I don’t know who the source was that titled this as a fightclub and I am guessing that because it was put on You-Tube and every other video on that site has a fight on it and is titled as a fight club,” Mendoza said.
