Two arrests made after routine traffic stop

Guadalupe Israel Sandoval Guadalupe Israel Sandoval A 29-year-old Ricardo resident was cited and arrested Tuesday, April 27 with several charges after a routine traffic stop in Kingsville.

According to a KPD press release, on the morning of April 27 a Kingsville police officer initiated a traffic stop on a Nissan Maxima for the vehicle having an expired inspection sticker.

The Maxima pulled into the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in the 600 block of South 14th Street.

As the vehicle stopped, the front seat passenger exited the vehicle and began walking towards the restaurant.

The officer contacted the passenger who was visibly nervous and acting suspiciously.

The passenger, Guadalupe Israel Sandoval, 29, began running and the officer pursued him.

Sandoval was caught in the parking lot of a restaurant next door just as he was throwing a baggie over a fence.

The baggie contained 7.7 grams of cocaine and marijuana was also found in his pocket.

Sandoval was arrested and was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, 4-200 grams, a 1st Degree Felony, Possession of Marijuana < 2 ounces (Class B Misdemeanor), Evading Arrest (Class B Misdemeanor), and had two Municipal Court warrants totaling $820.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for Expired MVI and no insurance.

She was also arrested on outstanding municipal court warrants.

No other contraband was located in her vehicle.
