Kingsville ISD Federal Programs seek input for Federal Programs Services for 2010-2011

KISD is seeking input from parents of students attending KISD schools, community members, and KISD employees wishing to participate in the design and development of KISD’s Federal Programs’ to be received by public school students, teachers, and other educational personnel for the 2010-2011 school year.

KISD will be applying for federal funding for the following: Title I, Part C – Migrant, Title II A – Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting, Title III, Part A – English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement and Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficient Students, and ESEA Title I, Part A-Improving Basic Programs-ARRA (Stimulus).

The grant requires the use of funds for the following:

• High-quality language instructional educational programs that are scientifically researched based

• High-quality professional development

• Parent education and involvement

• Support programs

The Consolidated Application for federal funding for the school year of 2010-2011 will be submitted to the Texas Education Agency after consultations with those wishing to offer their input.

A meeting has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Title I Family Involvement Center located at 400 W. Santa Gertrudis Ave.

KISD is also seeking input from nonprofit private schools located within the district’s boundaries wishing to participate in the design and development of KISD’s Federal Programs’ secular, neutral and non-ideological services for the 2010-2011 school year.

KISD will be applying for federal funding for the following: Title I-Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged, Title IIA-Preparing, Training and Recruiting High Quality Teachers and Principals, Title III Part A-English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement and Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficient Students.

Both of the Consolidated Applications for federal funding for the school year of 2010-2011 will be submitted to the Texas Education Agency after consultations with nonprofit private schools that are wishing to receive services, offer their input.

Nonprofit schools needing additional information may contact Martha Ramirez, Director of Accelerated Programs, for information on Title III Part A and Corina Gutierrez, Director of Federal Programs, for all other programs at (361) 592- 3387.
