University Women’s Club closes year with spring luncheon and business meeting

The University Women’s Club met on April 24, 2010, at the home of Karen Tallant for their final meeting of the year.
The pot-luck luncheon hostesses who provided desserts were: Marilyn Alexander, Joan Nuesch, Lucy Kruse, Lottie Norwine (Co-Chair), Choly Devera, Fay Robins, Joyce Mooney, Karen Tallant (Co-Chair) and Pat Neher.
The program was presented by Dolores Price sharing how her experiences and trips are an inspiration for her paintings.
She treated the audience by showing paintings featuring a variety of techniques and themes.
Scholarship Chairperson, Teresa Juarez, presented Heather Elsik, Donor Relations and Stewardship Coordinator, Development Office, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a $4,000 check to be used for four $1,000 Nancy Phaup Endowment Fund scholarships.

In addition, $1,000 from afghan sales was presented to Heather Elsik for a fifth scholarship.
In memory of Sara Jean Davis, the UWC donated $25 into the Nancy Phaup Scholarship Endowment Fund.
A United States flag will be purchased in memory of Sara Jean Davis, and a Texas flag in memory of deceased members. Flags will be used for UWC meetings in the Founder’s Room.

Newly elected officers for 2010-2011 are: President, Lottie Norwine; President- Elect, Breanne Flores- Contreras; Secretary, Choly Devera; Treasurer, Adline Sedory; Reporter, Norma Olivares and Scholarship Chairwoman, Teresa Juarez.
