City Secretary Edna Lopez administers the oath of office
Thursday to the Kingsville City Commission. The mayor and four commissioners were
re-elected to another term on May 8. Pictured from left are Commissioner Stanley
Laskowski, Commissioner Charlie Wilson, Mayor Sam Fugate, Commissioner Al
Garcia, and Commissioner Arturo Pecos. This will be the fourth continuous term the
current city commission has spent together. The city commission will meet Monday,
and one of the agenda items is to consider a resolution designating Garcia as mayor
pro-tem. Garcia received the most votes among city commissioner candidates in the
May 8 election, and by tradition, fellow commissioners name the candidate who
received the most votes as mayor pro-tem.
