Rogelio (Roy) Mendez
Rogelio (Roy) Mendez of Kingsville is announcing his candidacy for Kleberg County Constable Pct. 1 as an independent candidate in the Nov. 2 General Election.
He is currently employed as a police officer with the Falfurrias Police Department and has 25 years of service in law enforcement. On May 12, Mendez was awarded a service plaque for his years in law enforcement in Falfurrias at the VFW Hall.
Mendez was born in Kingsville and, along with his wife Cynthia, is the father of five sons and two daughters.
He and his immediate family are members of St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Kingsville.
Mendez has held positions as former police chief for both the San Diego and Driscoll Police Departments.
He earned a college degree in Criminal Justice from Del Mar College and holds a Master Peace Officer License, an advance Civil Process certification, and a license as a law enforcement instructor.
Mendez is also a police radar and mobile video instructor and has 3,672 TCLEOSE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education) hours from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
“I have graduated over 150 police cadets from previous police academies and will attempt to continue to coordinate these academies in Kingsville,” Mendez said.
He said his graduates are now or have been employed with the Kingsville Police Department, Kenedy County Sherriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, US Customs, and numerous other agencies throughout the region.
“If elected I vow to continue to serve the community and be available for the people of Precinct 1 and others in Kleberg County,” Mendez said. “I am determined to bring results.”
Mendez said he wants to work on many of the problems that plague Kleberg County.
“Other than civil processes, I will help to combat the narcotic problem, work with local members of the community to help with juvenile issues and try to get the community itself to become more involved in regards to law enforcement.” Mendez said. “ I am highly qualified and have proven what I can do. I have administered all phases of law enforcement well and will continue to do so if elected.”
