Involvement Center recognized the late Gertrude Hickman at its annual luncheon
recently. Hickman received the Top Honor for the most hours as a volunteer. She was
named “The VIP Queen” for volunteering over 1,100 hours to the students of KISD
before her death earlier this year. To receive the honor in her place were her daughter,
Debbie (Terry) Schlomach, son Doug (Julie) Hickman, son David (Olivia) Hickman,
and grandchildren Eric and Amy Schlomach. She will remain in the hearts of many
and her legacy will live on through our students for years to come, KISD officials said.
