Jose Isaac Vela, 61, of Falfurrias, died May 29, 2010, at a local hospital.

Vela was born on April 6, 1949, to Ignacio Vela and Dora Garcia Vela in Falfurrias.

He worked as a selfcontractor.

Survivors include his father, Ignacio Vela of Falfurrias; daughters, Berta Ann Vela of San Antonio, and Janie Vela of Falfurrias; brothers, Israel (Rosa) Vela and Isidro (Diana J.) Vela, both of Falfurrias; sisters, Belia Vela of Donna, Belinda V. (Sergio) Ortega and Benita V. (Jesus) Rosas both of Falfurrias; 15 grandchildren, four great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary was recited June 1 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation held that same evening.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. June 2 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias.

Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
