MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATIONS
Two Memorial Day Celebrations were held
simultaneously Monday by veterans organizations here. Members of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 2375, Disabled American Veterans, and members of the community,
top photo, attended the ceremony. Kleberg County Judge-Elect Juan Escobar, Post
2375 Commander Eddie Moreno, and KISD Superintendent Emilio Castro spoke at
the event held at the Kleberg County War Memorial. The St. Martin Catholic War
Veterans group, bottom photo, held its annual tribute at the Chamberlain Cemetery
War Memorial. Keynote speaker was Lt. Mark L. Haley, NAS Kingsville chaplain.
CWV members read aloud the name of each veteran from Kleberg County who died
because of war.
