Henry Pete Hohon Sr.

Henry Pete Hohon Sr. Henry Pete Hohon Sr. Henry Pete Hohon, Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with Jesus on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the age of 90 years. He was born on June 5, 1919 to Henry V. Hohon and Edna Dresch Hohon. He was married to Marjorie Brite Hohon on June 7, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas.

After graduating from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas with a degree in chemistry, he was commissioned as a captain in the United States Army serving in World War II. After the war he worked briefly in San Antonio before taking a job as a chemist at Celanese Chemical Plant in Bishop, Texas. He worked for Celanese for 30 years, retiring to the Hill Country in 1981.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie Brite Hohon and his six children and their spouses: Pete and Barbara Hohon, George and Pat Hohon, Edna and Ernie Bubenik, Sharon and Brit Mitchell, Tim Hohon, and Mary and Jim Miller. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

While in Bishop, he enjoyed racing pigeons with his sons, coached Little League baseball, and served as a city commissioner for several years. He particularly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and school activities, attending many football, volleyball, and baseball games. Over a span of 7 years, he, Marjorie, and his children built their retirement home. He took great pride in his ranch. He and Marjorie enjoyed gardening, canning, ranching, and bailing hay. His family brought him great joy, and he was loved and will be deeply missed by all of them.

The Rosary was held on Tuesday, June 1st, at 7:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Home in Bandera, Texas.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 2, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera, Texas with the Reverend James Dudley presiding. Burial followed at the St. Luke Cemetery in Loire, Texas.

The family would like to thank Peter Tierney and his caring staff at Bandera Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the kindness and love they extended to Henry and his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bandera Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, ATTN: Family Council Gazebo Project at 222 FM 1077, Bandera, TX 78003 or to the St. Stanislaus Church renovation fund at P. O. Box 757, Bandera, TX 78003.
