Tomas T. Basaldua

Tomas T. Basaldua, 91, of Riviera, died June 3, 2010, in Corpus Christi.

He was born on April 1, 1919, in Kingsville to Telesforo and Manuela Basaldua.

Basaldua, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was employed at the Corpus Christi and Kingsville Naval Air Station in the Transportation Department until his retirement.

He was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Vattmann.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Berta H. Basaldua of Riviera; three sons, Tom (Nancy) Basaldua Jr. of Edinburg, Gabriel Gonzales of Kingsville and Michael Gonzales of Riviera; two daughters, Emma (David) Clapper of Kingsville and Onilia Basaldua of Riviera; four brothers, Arturo (Elma) Basaldua and Gildardo Basaldua, both of Kingsville, Baldemar Basaldua of Roma, and Alejandro (Becky) Basaldua of Kansas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation took place June 6 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel in Kingsville and also at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.

A rosary was recited June 6 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass was celebrated June 7 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Antony as celebrant.

Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail took place at Resthaven Cemetery in Kingsville.
